Smacking, Smoking, and Fire Safety and Prevention

No Smacking Policy
We operate a strict no smacking policy which is in place at all times. This is not negotiable. No child in our care will suffer any pain or humiliation, as a positive discipline is a more effective way of managing children’s behaviour, should a child’s behaviour become a cause for concern and our normal positive behaviour reinforcement distraction and explanation methods are not effective. We will discuss possible solutions with the parent or guardian.

No Smoking Policy
There is a no smoking policy in operation at all times and we ask that it is respected. Nobody in the household smokes and we ask that no parent is permitted to smoke whilst on site.

Fire Safety
In the event of a fire, we will stop what we are doing and leave the house by the nearest exit available, we will leave by the front door. Once we are all assembled outside we will call the fire brigade from our mobile. Under no circumstances will we re‐enter the building until it has been made safe and we have been given the all-clear from the fire brigade. We will wait at a safe distance from the building across the road and contact the parents as soon as possible. The children will practice the evacuation procedure regularly so they will not be alarmed in the event of the situation being real, practices will be carried out on different days of the week to ensure all children take part.

Fire Prevention
To prevent a situation arising from a fire we have smoke alarms fitted in the kitchen, living room and the hallway of our home which are tested regularly once a week, we do not have a fire guard as we don’t have an open fire, we have central heating throughout the property. A fire blanket is situated in the kitchen and this is serviced once a year. No one smokes in the house and no matches are kept.
